In 2025, the Royal Australian Mint proudly celebrates 30 years since the Torres Strait Islander Flag was officially proclaimed as a Flag of Australia. This commemorative coloured uncirculated coin honours the rich traditions, culture, and enduring legacy of Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Designed by the late Bernard Namok in 1992, the Torres Strait Islander Flag holds deep cultural and historical significance. Its design features green for land, blue for sea, black for the people, the Dhari headdress, and a five-pointed star, symbolising unity, cultural heritage, and the island groups. Officially recognised in 1995, the flag continues to be a symbol of identity, pride, and resilience.

This vibrant $2 coloured coin, struck to the Mint’s high uncirculated standard, is a meaningful keepsake and an accessible addition to any coin collection.
